Importing records from a CD
All book orders will be done through Mackin. Mackin offers free processing, so all books will be shelf ready when they arrive. You will still have to stamp your school's identification as you normally do. You will receive a packet of information including a list of titles and a CD with MARC records. Below are step-by-step instructions to import the MARC records from the CD to Alex.

1. In Alex, go to the Tools menu and choose Import. This should open a new yellow screen.

2. Insert the CD into the side of the computer screen.

3. You will see an icon that looks like a CD pop up on the screen. Double click that icon.

4. A new box will open, and you will see 3 files in it. One of them will be called MICROLIF.001. Click and drag that file to the white box at the top of the yellow screen in Alex. Click start (located to the right, under the white box). The computer will take a minute or two to run the file and import the records.

That's it! Your records should be added to Alex. I usually do a double check just to make sure everything worked. Go to the Show menu in Alex and choose Items. The records that show up on the left side should be the new books you just entered. You can spot check by using the list of titles provided by Mackin.
